Weaponeers of Monkaa

My friends over at Spy Monkey Creations are at it again. This time with a serious, mischievous grin on their face. They mean business.

Moving from making original accessories to various toy lines, including Masters of the Universe Classics, they now try their luck at a completely original toy line!

The Weaponeers of Monkaa!

Launch is October 1st. Read on for some of my thoughts!

It looks to be based on the Onell Glyos figures, which means every figure and accessory will be interchangeable - the red and purple dude can easily switch hands and feet. Insanely cool for people who like to customize their toy display, and just as fun for kids who want playability.

The premise is simple, tried and tested. It's basically two opposing factions and what seems to be a third faction of elementals.
SMC writes:

Witness the eternal battle between the heroic Gearo and the evil Vilhain as it rages across space and time! Empyreus, Palidar and their Gearo defenders protect the cosmos from Umbreus, Brutok and the ravening Vilhain hordes!  Discover the secrets of the mysterious Gohlem; will they follow the path of good or evil?

I assume we'll get more bios and story lines along with the toys.

Edit: Brian from SMC comes with a cool update, where we are treated to a background story that actually is impressive! :

The teaser  image is reminiscent of the old Transformers promo pictures. What seems to be two "evil" warriors, two "good guys" and two elementals, are all posing against a backdrop of random spaceness. Gorgeous! I'm sold on the artwork alone.

The style of the art reminds me of Transformers, but the figures themselves have that vintage Battle Beasts vibe, specially with the square on their chest. It looks like this chest symbol is interchangeable too, making it easy for the toys to switch factions at our will. Obviously, the colors make it all too apparent where they belong. As we all know, red is good, purple is evil.

I really like the fact that they appear robotic, but still more humanoid than robots. There's a mystery going on here. I cannot wait to equip them with various weapons.

Naturally, this being the Weaponeers, SMC also makes tons of various weapons and accessories for these toys. Amazingly fun, and I'm on board!
